BUILD OVERVIEW
From Engine Failure to a Fully Revitalized Power Stroke
Roquet brought his 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty XL to Texas Complete Truck Center after noticing the engine was running rough, producing excessive blow-by, and repeatedly setting injector fault codes that kept illuminating the check engine light. These symptoms pointed to much more than a simple injector issue—they indicated significant internal engine wear along with fuel system concerns that needed to be addressed before the truck could return to dependable service.
After completing a thorough inspection and diagnosis, our technicians determined the best solution was a complete powertrain restoration rather than a temporary repair. The goal wasn't just to replace a failed engine—it was to build a stronger, more reliable truck that could handle years of hard work with confidence.
At the heart of this build is a Texas Complete Truck Center HD 6.7L Power Stroke long block, professionally assembled in-house by our technicians. The engine was built with new pistons, piston rings, main and rod bearings, timing components, refreshed cylinder heads, and valvetrain components, all anchored by a TIG-welded crankshaft gear for added durability. Every reusable component was carefully inspected, cleaned, and transferred during installation to ensure the new engine met the same high standards as the rest of the build.
Knowing that a contaminated fuel system can quickly destroy a fresh engine, we completely overhauled the fuel system while the truck was apart. We installed an S&S DCR high-pressure fuel system conversion to replace the factory CP4-style system with a more dependable design. The fuel tank was removed, cleaned of debris, modified for improved venting, and reinstalled before a FASS fuel system was added to provide clean, consistent fuel delivery and help protect the new engine for the long haul.
To improve airflow, efficiency, and overall performance, we installed a new turbocharger assembly along with a Pusher Intake System featuring a turbo inlet. We also upgraded the exhaust side with a BD Diesel Heavy-Duty Exhaust Manifold Kit complete with upgraded studs and up-pipes, creating a stronger and more reliable foundation than the factory components.
Because this F-350 is built to work, we didn't stop with the engine. To improve handling and drivetrain stability, the truck received an S&B No Restriction Traction Bar Kit, an ICON adjustable track bar, and an S&B body mount kit. These upgrades help reduce axle wrap, improve steering feel, and tighten up the overall ride quality whether the truck is towing, hauling, or serving as a dependable daily driver.
While inspecting the rest of the truck, our technicians also identified a noisy rear differential. Rather than overlooking another major drivetrain concern, the Dana 80 dual rear wheel rear axle assembly was replaced to restore smooth, dependable operation and ensure the drivetrain matched the reliability of the newly built engine.
To complete the build, the intake components were professionally powder coated for a clean, custom appearance, a new windshield was installed, and the front bumper and mirrors were removed and reinstalled during paint work, giving the truck a refreshed look to match its completely renewed mechanical foundation.
This project represents exactly how we approach major repairs at Texas Complete Truck Center. We don't believe in cutting corners or replacing only what's broken. We focus on solving the root cause, strengthening the supporting systems, and building trucks that owners can trust long after they leave our shop. By addressing the engine, fuel system, drivetrain, suspension, and supporting components together, this 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty is ready to get back to doing what it was built for—working hard for many miles to come.
